Contamination and contagion

Hepatitis contagion

HOW DID I GET INFECTED?

The transmission is through blood contact. The most common forms of infection are through:

Transfusions of blood, during or after surgery, etc.;
Sharing syringes, etc…

Other less frequent ways of being infected are also possible, such as:

Dental treatment;
Tattoos;
Piercings;
Acupuncture;
Sharing instruments where blood is present. Ex: nail clippers, shaving razors, tooth brushes, and tubes for snorting cocaine.

CAN I PASS ON THE DISEASE

So you should take the following precautions:
Do not share shaving razors of any kind;
Prevent others from using your personal hygiene equipment such as nail clippers, toothbrush, etc.;
Do not engage in anal sex without a condom.

CAN I PASS IT ON IN A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP?

It is very unlikely that there is transmission of the virus in sexual intercourse through the vagina… Other forms of sex, where there may be bleeding, however, should be avoided or done with great care and with the protection of condoms.
